In Science, we had made our final tweaks before our final race. After our final race, we reflected on our building experience, such as how far our vehicle moved, was I supportive of other peers, if we used our plan to guide our building and if we reflected throughout our building. Lastly we used the rubric to assess ourselves.
In Math, we have been doing the Standard Algorithm. First you put the bigger number on top of the smaller number. Then multiply the digits on top starting with the ones, tens and hundreds. You need to regroup your number is a 2 digit number. You put the number in the ones place under the equals sign and carry the number in the tens place to the next number.
In Language Arts, we practiced answering comprehension questions. The MUST HAVES include: 4-5 sentences, we need evidence from the book, and restate the question in your response. The COULD HAVES include: it could have a prediction, definition or connection.
In Social Studies, we started our Homestead challenge. We will try to build a homestead that will be prosperous during seasonal changes and environmental challenges. We will have a budget to purchase items for our homestead.

This week we played the math game 4x4. If you get the same number beside each other (to the side, or up or down) you multiply them, and then you add all the products to find the total. The goal is to have the largest total. Albert and Leah tied for 1st place!
We created a t-chart with 1 column titled "In my Head" and the other column titled "Use a Strategy". We had to pick numbers from the circles and decide if you could do the equation in your head or if you needed a strategy.
Next week in math we will be applying our multiplication strategies to solve word problems. We will once again use the C.U.B.E.S. strategy to help us with math word problems.
C - Circle key numbers
U - Underline the question
B - Box any math words
E - Equation with equals sign
S - Solve and check
