Week 32

We had a fantastic, fabulous and creative week!

In Math, we have been working on the Partial Products strategy. We start by decomposing (breaking apart) the bigger number and then you multiply each decomposed number by your smaller number. Then you add up the products to get the answer to the original equation.

Next week we will be learning about the Standard Algorithm multiplication strategy. Please practice creating your own math questions and finding the solutions.

In Science, we continued building our vehicles. Today had our second test and filled our test sheet to mark our distance goal and reflected on how we could modify our vehicles to move more effectively in a straight line and further.

Ticket Curlew we read chapter 7 and 8 and continued to find key vocab and answered our comprehension questions. One of the vocab words were 'desperately' which means the urge to do something or want something strongly and 'unpredictable' which means unable to guess or make a prediction. We have also continued to add definitions and pictures to our Google doc definition page: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YR5VDFXRGS-ljXQwH_bpckbOpFByyPtluqqAEiQjcMc/edit?usp=sharing

We started watching the Drylanders: https://www.nfb.ca/film/drylanders/

Passion Project

Alex's Passion Project was about the NHL team, the Calgary Flames. The Calgary Flames had three uniforms, a "home", "away" and "alt/traditional version". We also learned that they used to be called the Atlanta Flames and then they moved to Calgary. They won the Stanley cup in 1989. Calgary had other teams before the Flames, which were The Centennials, The Wranglers and The Cowboys.
