Week 38

We had a fantastic, wonderful and an amazing week!

This week we had our Heritage Park Field Trip. We learned about different shops that were open in the early 1900s (such as the blacksmith shop, the candy and ice cream shop, the bakery). We also visited different homes, including the Livingston house, Colonel Macleod's Sandstone house and the Prince's house. There were two schools to visit at the park. There was a livery stable with horses and their names were Mac, Cap (Cheese), Tom and King.

We had our Sports Day! In our classroom we had a mini-golf course which had five different "holes", including one were students could earn points. We visited other stations in different classrooms that had various activities. These activities included: a three-legged race, a feather race, i-pads, cup stacking, cats cradle, hula hoop, building, limbo, silent ball, geoboards, colouring, baseball, a parachute, mission impossible, centers, obstacle courses and a bean bag toss. At the end of Sports Day we watched a movie and got freezies.

Passion Projects!

Turner's Passion Project was about the Toronto Raptors. We learned that they are the only Canadian basketball team in the NBA. We looked at the different types of jerseys. They have a home jersey, away jersey and alt jerseys. Some of the key players are: Kawhi Leonard, Kyle Lowry, Danny Green, Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, Serge Ibaka, Marc Gasol and Norman Powell. Last season Norman Powell had the worst season of his career because he only averaged 4 points per game.

In Sophie's Passion Project she taught us about crocheting. She showed us the different objects that you could make with crochet, such as a teddy bear, gloves and a poncho. We watched a video of someone attempting to beat the world record of 28 stitches in 1 minute. She only got 27 stitches in 1 minute. Sophie also taught us the difference between crocheting and knitting. The main difference is that in crocheting you use a hook and in knitting you use needles. Sophie also talked about three different stitches: single crotchet, double crotchet and a slip stitch.
